ABOUT ME

I'm just a 30+ U.S. graduate ordinary Malaysian guy who loves reading, living, watching Sports (especially football & American sports...and a no. 1 Arsenal fan) & sharing interesting news, opinions & info, I found on cyberspace, here on my portal.

The Greatest Natural Phenomenon On Earth - Aurora

Pity us who live in the Tropics region, as we had few chance to see the Auroras with our own eyes. In fact, I'm not even sure how many of us living in the tropical region who have actually heard the word "Aurora".

Auroras (Polar Lights; or aurorae, sing.: aurora) are natural different colored light displays, which are usually observed in the night sky, particularly in the polar zone. In northern latitudes, it is known as the Aurora Borealis. It often appears as a greenish glow (or sometimes a faint red), as if the sun were rising from an unusual direction. The aurora borealis is also called the northern polar lights, as it is only visible in the North sky from the Northern Hemisphere. The aurora borealis most often occurs from September to October and from March to April. Its southern counterpart, the aurora australis/southern polar lights, has similar properties.

How It Happens

All it takes is for the earth to have an atmosphere and the sun to eject ions at speeds up to 1200 km/second then BAM! You’ve got some unbelievable mother nature action.

Streaming plasma clouds, composed of fast moving charged particles, form a solar wind. It is the tangential interaction of the solar wind with the earth’s magnetic field that traps some of these charged particles. These trapped particles then flow along the magnetic field lines of the earth into the upper most regions of our planet’s atmosphere. That’s when the lights become manifest and their dance begins.

Another Evidence that Hot Chicks Love Losers/Ugly Men

I just can't understand what beautiful Katherine McPhee sees in Nick Cokas, her newly-wed husband, a 46-year-old balding guy who has either good in bed or have tons of money or both. Yes, I am jealous but who wasn't.Look at her in that smashing blue dress. Whatever she thinks of her body, I believe she is perfect. I just hope she is happy with her choice but then again a quick divorce will do for me too. As if I can have her, ha !

I Will Kill Myself If They Are Really A Couple

Heidi Klum and not-that-funny comedian Will Farrell does stupid picture for Sports Illustrated. It looks good for Heidi as it shows that she does have a humor side and perhaps could venture into acting. Heidi also shows that motherhood doesn't affect her figures like most of the other earthlings.

What Type of Loser is Gary Coleman ?

I don't believe this guy. I don't even believe anyone can even be cheated by this guy. But it happens.

According to The Insider, Gary Coleman said that he hasn't had sex with his new bride, 22-year-old Shannon Price. The two were married in August and still haven't done the deed. He said, "It will happen when it happens."

In another interview with Inside Edition the couple talked about the violence in their relationship and how they sometimes go a week without talking.

Wow....what a loser both of them are. Perhapse, they are meant for each other. My bet is they won't last till this August.

Natalie Cole Isn’t Happy That Amy Winehouse Won At The Grammy Awards

As quoted from US Weekly, Natalie Cole was upset about Amy Winehouse's big win at Grammy's recently.

“I’m going on record as an artist who is able to critique [Amy Winehouse],” Natalie Cole (a recovering drug addict herself) told reporters at a post-Grammys bash Sunday. “I think she has a great talent, but I don’t agree with the Grammys giving her those nods. I think it sends the wrong message, that even in the midst of her stupor of drugs she can get nominated for all these awards.

“It’s a slap in the face to musicians and artists who work very hard that they turn around and give it to someone who really obviously doesn’t have a grasp of what she has. I’ve been in this business over 25 years and I sacrificed five years of my own life on drugs and almost lost my life because of it.

“So I take great offense to almost see someone getting glory out of being in the position that they’re in — she needs to get her life together and embrace her craft, she will lose it if she doesn’t get it together.”

Personally, I am not that fond of Miss Winehouse. I don't like her songs, her attitude nor her exposure. But on the other hand, I believe an award for artistic category whether for music, movies or literature, should be given based on the quality of the respective nominees for the said category and that alone. For example, if the category is for the best song, and if Miss Winehouse song is really that good according to respective voters, that alone should be sufficient for it to win that category, as the rest is and should be irrelevant in the process of judging. Afterall, it is the song that is being judged and not the artist singing the song. If it is for best vocal performance, it should be the vocal and/or performance that should be judged, and that alone determines the winner.

As such, I found it funny that this type of comment should come out from a former crackhead herself. Please be reminded, we are not judging for the best role model award nor are we judging for the best singer award. To award an artist when he or she did good later is nonsense as by then, the item being judged might not be as good as before.

Whatever it is, I think Natalie Cole is not that great anyway....perhaps a little bit exposure is what she expected from her outrageous but dumb comment.

Sisipan dari Email: Keistimewaan Adi Putra

Keistimewaan lain Adi Putra

*******************************************************************************

Saya dibenarkan menemu bual Adi Putra secara bersendirian tanpa ditemani ibu bapanya - sesuatu yang jarang diperoleh media lain.

Sepanjang temu bual itu, sambil mulutnya semakin lancar menjawab soalan saya (berbanding dua tahun lalu dia lebih pendiam), tangannya juga pantas menekan punat permainan video.

Dan sebelum saya pulang, Adi Putra sempat berpesan: "Untuk abang, Adi nasihatkan baca Alam Nasyrah (surah al-Insyirah) setiap hari."

Saya tanya kenapa surah itu? Jawab Adi: "Untuk rezeki abang."

EKSTRA!

Dari mana Adi Putra dapat ilham mencipta Sajak Akulah Adi Putra, Anak Merdeka?

ADI PUTRA: Maksudnya, masa Adi buat apa ya?

Pagi-pagi lepas mandi, Adi biasanya suka main permainan video.

Sebab apa Adi kata macam tu?

Otak Adi ni, diibaratnya macam kereta Ferrari. Tetapi dibuatnya macam budak darjah satu. Maka rosaklah otak Adi.

Satu kita guna alif, dua kita gunakan ba, tiga kita gunakan ta.

Kenapa Adi suka cipta formula pada waktu tengah malam?

Ilham datang waktu itu.

Apa permainan komputer dan video kesukaan Adi?

Counter Strike, game tembak-tembak...Ada juga main game Meet the Robinsons.

Bila besar Adi nak jadi apa?

Adi nak jadi profesor matematik Islam.

Adi tahu Adi terkenal sekarang?

Adi tetap salam, jangan bersikap sombong. Cuma Adi berdoa pada Allah agar dia tak buat benda jahat.

Adakah letih menjadi seorang genius?

Tak letih dengan matematik, cuma letih selalu layan ramai orang. Tapi Adi syukur pada Allah.

Apa ucapan untuk ibu dan ayah?

Semoga panjang umur. Terima kasih sebab jaga Adi.

Chairman Mao Offered U.S. 10 Million Women

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Amid a discussion of trade in 1973, Chinese leader Mao Zedong made what U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger called a novel proposition: sending tens of thousands, even 10 million, Chinese women to the United States.

"You know, China is a very poor country," Mao said, according to a document released by the State Department's historian office.

"We don't have much. What we have in excess is women. So if you want them we can give a few of those to you, some tens of thousands."

A few minutes later, Mao circled back to the offer. "Do you want our Chinese women?" he asked. "We can give you 10 million."

After Kissinger noted Mao was "improving his offer," the chairman said, "We have too many women. ... They give birth to children and our children are too many."

"It is such a novel proposition," Kissinger replied in his discussion with Mao in Beijing. "We will have to study it."

It's Creepy Reading Michelle William's Last Interview Before Heath Ledger's Death

US actress Michelle Williams has spoken of her break-up with Heath Ledger and life as a single mother in an interview she gave before the Australian actor's death in January.

Williams, 27, said she is coming to terms with her new life after splitting from Ledger last September in an interview with UK magazine Wonderland, published today.

Eerily, she also talks about shooting a movie, where she pays a woman grieving over the loss of her husband.

EXCERPT FROM THE INTERVIEW

ON SPLITTING WITH HEATH
“When you’re in a relationship with somebody who is also a public personality then it doubles the attention from the media. When you minus that equation it’s just less enticing. That’s been a real bonus. It’s the plus side of the break-up for me. It was so pervading, it got bad there for a while. Every time I walk out of the door I still worry. That’s what is so silly about it: even if the paparazzi aren’t there, you wonder if they are. I’m not good at that stuff. I need to get better at it. It really used to affect me.”

ON BALANCING WORK AND MOTHERHOOD
“It’s not easy. Last April I was over in London doing a movie called Incendiary with Ewan McGregor. It’s about a woman grieving after losing her husband and son in a terrorist attack. It was a brutal role and arduous: six-day weeks, 14 hour-days. I was like the walking dead towards the end. Matilda would visit me everyday on-set for lunch and I’d race home to put her to bed. My only days off were Sundays and as much as I’d want to pass out, I’d try to take her out somewhere fun so she didn’t associate me with boredom. The only time that is really my own these days is after I’ve put her to bed and until I go to bed. That’s about two hours.”

ON SKIPPING KATIE HOLMES’ WEDDING
“Everybody wants to know that. No, I didn’t go because I was working on The Tourist. To be honest, we’re not really in touch.”

MH is Malaysian Hospitality

Are you aware that Malaysia Airlines is going through a new "branding" campaign ? They are trying to differentiate themselves from the Low Cost Airlines and other competitors, by promising that their specialties are in providing the best service through its MH is Malaysian Hospitality campaign.

To be honest, Malaysia Airlines is a pretty good airline. Most of the time, their service is above the par. The problem is inconsistency. As I have said before, most of the time, they are good...in fact excellence. But at times, their courtesy and friendliness dissapeared, their food got stale and the air plane was not in good shape, I mean in terms of the equipment and such.

Nevertheless, through my experience taking a lot of flights from different airlines, Malaysia Airlines do excel in the industry, which I believe is at par with marquee airliners such as Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific. Their track records in terms of safety is still impeccable, and as such, I believe they can still survive the competition, if they mange to pull this rebranding exercises well.

It's not fair to compare MAS with Air Asia in terms of price, because both airliners were designed to operate differently. Air Asia will strive for value in lieu of hospitality. Malaysia Airlines, being a national carrier, modus operandi, is to provide enough comfort for air travellers, to compete with marquee airliners. It's difficult to manage MAS cost the way Air Asia does. MAS have to contend with three different approach - short haul, middle distance haul and long distance flight. As such, MAS have to invest in various airplanes...Boeing 737, Boeng 777, Boeing 747, Fokker etc. MAS has to maintain different parts, equipments, ground crew, support crew, maintenance crew etc. This all add to cost. MAS too has to offer different classes for different group of people - economy, business and first class, as they service not only normal citizens but also dignitaries of this country.

Nevertheless, MAS did offer some promotions from time to time to attract the cost-conscious travellers, but then again...it's just difficult for them to do more than that to compete with Low Cost Airliners in terms of cost.

PM Bubarkan Parlimen...Pilihanraya Semakin Hampir

Walau apapun, pilihanraya semakin hampir. Kalau nak tahu kawasan mana anda mengundi, anda boleh periksa daftar undi di sini -----> Semakan Daftar Pemilih

Self-Rule Likely in Southern Thailand

Thailand's new government will consider granting some degree of self-rule to Muslim majority provinces hit by bloody separatist unrest, Interior Minister Chalerm Yubamrung said yesterday.

"I want to reaffirm that autonomy is possible, but we will have to discuss what type of autonomy it will be," Chalerm said.

However, Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej was cautious about the proposal, saying his government would develop its policy on the insurgency within a few days.

"What Chalerm proposed, he thinks a good idea. But I think this idea could be dangerous and it could get out of hand," he said after his second Cabinet meeting.

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson in W Magazine

Wow, this is way too much information for me to absorb. Natalie Portman talking about Porn. Scarlett & Portman posing scantily clad together. The new article and pictures of both Portman & Scarlett Johannsson for the latest W Magazine is too much for me to take.

Posing together for the W Magazine cover, Scarlett Johansson & Natalie Portman has been the dream of most men, bachelor or not. Sure, they are different in so much way imagined, but for most it's better this way, as there is no point of owning two similar properties...it's just better having two different yet elegant ones, whatever they meant.

According to W Magazine, the 23-year-old Johansson is a modern Marilyn Monroe, complete with platinum mane, fleshy curves and a sexy-throaty voice. The 26-year-old Portman, in contrast, is the very embodiment of delicacy and refinement: small, perfectly shaped features, boyish body and careful Ivy League diction. See, that's why the two of them together completes every men's dream. They are just two of the three pieces that completes the puzzle. The other piece is me, off course.

You can count on seeing a lot of these two incredible beauties together over the next few weeks as they go around talking about their new movie, The Other Boleyn Girl. Natalie equates their film to "history through porn." OK, that's enough. I don't know what I write anymore...and please excuse me, but I have to go to the men's room.

Microsoft is A Stubborn Company

Maybe that's why they succeeds.

Anyway, despite spurned on Monday in its offer to buy Yahoo! Inc for US$ 44.6 billion, Microsoft is "moving forward" with the proposal and may take the bid straight to shareholders.

In a statement, Microsoft said "It is unfortunate that Yahoo has not embraced our full and fair proposal to combine our companies."

Or in other words, Microsoft is begging for Yahoo to join the pact of the devil. Perhaps, another offer for Google, after the possible merger will complete the pack. The new search engine will then be Micro Yagoohoogle.....

Would You Enjoy Having Tom Cruise as Your Valentine's Date ?

What a matching couple ? Or Are They Actually The Same Person ?

I am not so sure anyone do, nowadays....since the former hearthrob is getting creepier and creepier by day. I am not even sure Mrs. Cruise herself will enjoy Mr. Cruise presence. But, what do I know...maybe both of them are in the same Scientology wavelength.

According to USMagazine.com, Tom Cruise did have some plan this coming Valentine. He elaborated "I have plans", when asked at the opening of the Eli Broad Contemporary Art Museum last night. When pressed by the interviewer, whether the plan will involved something romantic, Mr. Cruise answered, "It will".

I hope Mrs. Cruise will enjoy the lengthy philosophical conversation about spaceship and our final destination. Perhaps she will enjoy some futuristic dinner and a lot of lubricant after that.

Carrie Underwood Is Open To Acting ?

Why is it that popular singer always assume that they can be a good actor as well ?

Following her big win at the Grammy's Sunday night, Carrie Underwood, has said that her next big project could be on the silver screen.

The American Idol star has revealed that she has already been offered some acting roles, but wouldn’t say in what. My guess is that she will be singing and showing a little bit of skin on the screen, just to get both women and mostly bored and desperate men to be in the movie theaters.

The Lingam Video Inquiry Get More Interesting

When reading about the testimonies in the Lingam Video Inquiry, I sometimes wonder whether I am actually reading the plots of a daytime soap opera. The plot and subplot of the inquiry will definitely make a good court drama ala Hollywood, and if I were to commit the whole strory into a blog, it will definitely be a full-time job for me.

Anyway, from yesterday's session, Lingam's former secretary, G. Jayanti, testified that

1. Lingam wrote judgment in Vincent Tan's case.
2. ACA closed case as it involved many high-ranking government officails
3. She arranged Lingam and former Chief Justice, Eusoff Chin's New zealand trip.
4. She got fired by Lingam, as the Lingam accused her of stealing one million Berjaya (a company owned by Vincent Tan) shares, which later were found out to be untrue, as Lingam himself found the missing shares.

According to Jayanti, a copy of draft judgment prepared by Lingam's office which have necessary corrections on it with red ink was found to be fully incorporated in the official judgment of Justice Mokhtar Sidin, the judge involved in the Vincent Tan's case.

Testifying as the 19th witness, Jayanti said she has given her statement to the ACA three times in April 1998, in connection to ACA's investigation of Lingam's dealing with judges. However, three months later, the ACA called and told her that the file had to be closed as it involved many high-ranking Government people. She claimed she was given RM3,000 "award" after that.

Jayanti also revealed that Lingam's trip to New Zealand with former Chief Justice Tun Eusoff Chin and their families was pre-planned. Upon instruction from her former boss to follow up with Holiday Tours and Travel to get the necessary travel itinerary and tickets issued, she received Singapore-New Zealand return tickets for both families as well as a Vincent Tan's bodyguard. All the flights were the same for all parties except the initial KL-Singapore flight for Eusoff's family, which was half an hour different than that of Lingam's family, based on the lawyer's instructions.

She also recounted on how W. Satchithanandhan advise her to keep three rolls of filem of Lingam's-Eusoff Trip and ticket stubs from the trip for "future use".

There also some side drama on top of the main event. First, Lingam and Eusoff Chin are seeking to remove two commissioners, Datuk Mahadev Shankar and Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Khoo Kay Kim, from the inquiry. Next, we have another commissioner clarifying why Anwar and Aliran were barred from proceedings. Finally, we have another mini soap opera in which Lingam's brother claimed that he was pressured to fake insanity after ACA recorded his statement on Lingam's alleged corrupt practices.

Well, that's all for now...but I bet more skeleton will be revealed as the inquiries dragged on.

Q&A on Women...by Men

Why is a Laundromat a really bad place to pick up a woman?
Because a woman who can’t even afford a washing machine will probably never be able to support you.

Why do women have smaller feet than men?
It’s one of those “evolutionary things” that allows them to stand closer to the kitchen sink.

How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart?
When she starts her sentence with “A man once told me…”

How do you fix a woman’s watch?
You don’t. There is a clock on the oven.

Why do men break wind more than women?
Because women can’t shut up long enough to build up the required pressure.

I married Miss Right.
I just didn’t know her first name was Always.

Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman’s sex drive by 90%. It’s called a Wedding Cake.

Why do men die before their wives?
They want to.

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

Obama Won Convincingly in 3 States, Huckabee Won in Kansas

Senator Barack Obama won decisive victories over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington, Louisiana and Nebraska on Saturday, giving him an impressive sweep going into a month when the Democratic nominating contests are expected to favor him.

The successes come just as Obama is building a strong advantage over Clinton in raising money, providing important fuel for the nominating contests ahead. Still, the results were expected to do little to settle the muddle in the delegate race that resulted after the wave of contests last Tuesday in which the two candidates split up states from coast to coast.

In Republican contests on Saturday, Mike Huckabee won in Kansas, an embarrassing setback for Senator John McCain as he tries to rally the party around him as the nominee. The candidates were battling in Louisiana and Washington, where the results were too close to call. The Associated Press called the Louisiana race for Huckabee and the Washington race for McCain.

While Obama had been expected to win the contests on Saturday, the margin of victories were surprising, particularly in Nebraska and Washington, which offered the day's biggest trove of delegates. In both states, he captured 68 percent of the vote in caucuses, compared with Clinton's roughly 32 percent.

Australian Murderer Kept Body for 23 Years

CANBERRA (Reuters): An Australian man was convicted on Saturday of killing his wife and then hiding her body in a metal drum in his garage for 23 years.

A Supreme Court jury in the southern Victoria state found Frederick Boyle, 58, killed his 30-year-old wife Edwina Boyle in October 1983, and then hid her body in the large metal drum.

The trial heard the murder came to light when Boyle's son-in-law opened the drum and found a bag of women's clothing during a clean-up of the family home in 2006. Two weeks later he found human remains in a garbage bin in the garage.

Boyle had pleaded not guilty to the murder and said he hid the body after finding his wife dead in bed. He told their children his wife had left him and run off with a truck driver.

But prosecutors said Boyle shot his wife in the head.

Very Good Pay Accounting Job - Joke of The Day

Fresh out of business school, the young man answered a want ad for an accountant. Now he was being interviewed by a highly agitated, arrogant little man who ran a small business that he had started from scratch.

“I need someone with an accounting degree,” the man said. “But mainly, I’m looking for someone to do my worrying for me.”

“How’s that?” the would be accountant asked.

“I worry about a lot of things,” the man said. “But I don’t want to have to worry about money. Your job will be to take all the money worries off my back.”

“I see,” the accountant said. “And how much will my position pay?”

“I’ll start you at eighty five thousand,” responded the owner decisively.

“Eighty five thousand dollars!” the accountant exclaimed. “How can such a small business afford a sum like that?”

“That,” the owner said, “is your first worry. Now get to work!”

Polaroid No Longer Does Polaroids

The brand synonymous with instant film is killing off the Polaroid film format and attempting to reinvent the brand so it "lives on for the next 30 to 40 years." In the short term that means closing factories in Massachusetts, Mexico and the Netherlands, cutting 450 jobs, and breaking the hearts of hipster-photographers the world over.

Obviously the concept of Polaroids was never going to be much more than a niche in the age of digital photos, and the Polaroid / Zink Digital Instant Mobile Photo Printer is filling the instant development void left behind, but it's still sad to see a format with so much history and fond memories die, especially since Polaroid spends the majority of its time these days slapping its de-valued logo onto rubbish commodity electronics.

Heath Ledger Cremated

Heath Ledger was memorialized in a service attended by hundreds and a 10-person private funeral Saturday in his hometown of Perth, Australia.

Ex Michelle Williams, Gemma Ward and Cate Blanchett were among the hundreds of mourners who attended the first service, held in the theater of Penrhos College, according to Australia's The Age newspaper.

The papers says Williams appeared distraught and was leaning on the arm of Ledger's sister, Kate, who later gave a speech.

A mourner told the paper, "Kate (Ledger) spoke of the unique bond she shared with her brother, how he would ring her three or four times a day and how he never forgot his friends even at the height of his fame."

Blanchett also delivered an emotional eulogy.

"He achieved so much in his short life and was capable of so much in the future," she said.

Ledger's favorite songs were played at the memorial, including "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes, "The Times, They are A-Changin'" by Bob Dylan, the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" and "Come Together," and Ben Harper's "Happily Ever After," which Harper wrote for Ledger and Williams' two-year-old daughter Matilda.

Following the service, 10 close family members went to Fremantle Cemetery, where the paper wrote that Ledger was cremated.

Next, guests gathered at nearby Indiana's Restaurant on Cottesloe Beach. As the sun was setting, about 50 guests, "just dropped their clothes and swam into the water in their underwear," an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com.

The onlooker adds: “After a while Michelle Williams came down and went swimming in her dress. Security guards were waiting for her with a towel when she emerged. Kate Ledger then came down, to tremendous cheer from the partygoers, before diving in fully clothed.”

Ledger's parents watched the emotional moment from the restaurant balcony.

"Everyone in the water started slapping the water and shouting, 'Heath,' in kind of mass relief that the stress of the occasion was behind them," the witness tells Us.

Britney's Parents Mad At Hospital For Releasing Her Early

Eight hours after Britney Spears was released from UCLA Medical Center, her parents, Jamie and Lynne, released the following statement to the Associated Press:

“As parents of an adult child in the throes of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe,” the statement read.

“We are deeply concerned about our daughter’s safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court’s orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted.”

Yeah....and I am mad at Britney's parents for releasing her 26 years ago.

French Military History in a Nutshell

In reference to the post below, let me list the French Military history as posted in About.com.

Gallic Wars: Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian. Lost!

Hundred Years War: Mostly lost, saved at last by a female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare - "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchmen." Lost!

Italian Wars: Lost. France becomes the first and only country ever to lose two wars when fighting Italians.

Wars of Religion: France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots. Lost!

Thirty Years' War: France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her. Lost!

War of Devolution: Tied; Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.

The Dutch War: Tied.

War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War: Lost, but claimed as a tie. Deluded Frogophiles the world over label the period as the height of French Military Power.

War of the Spanish Succession: Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved ever since.

American Revolution: In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare: "France only wins when America does most of the fighting". Won (with the Americans do most of the fighting)!

French Revolution: Won, primarily due to the fact that the opponent was also French.

The Napoleonic Wars: Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.

The Franco-Prussian War: Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

WWI: Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States. Thousands of French women find out what it's like not only to sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.

WWII: Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

War in Indochina: Lost. French forces plead sickness, take to bed with Dien Bien Flu.

Algerian Rebellion: Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a Western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare -"We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Eskimos.

War on Terrorism: France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Lost!

Things I Don't Understand About People

People who point at their wrist asking for the time. I know where my watch is dude, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my private when I ask where the toilet is...

People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.

When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it?

When people say while watching a film, "did you see that?" No Loser, I paid 8 bucks to come to the cinema and stare at the damn effing floor!

People who ask "Can I ask you a question?" Didn't give me a choice there....did they?

When something is 'new and improved'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

When people say "life is short". Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!!! What can you do thats longer?

When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "has the bus come yet?" If the bus came, would I be standing here???!!

The professor stared at the student for a long time without saying a word. Finally the professor continued.

“Physics saves lives,” he said, “because it keeps certain people out of medical school.”

The Real Reason Behind Spice Girls Split

THE true reason behind the Spice Girls' decision to call an early end to their world tour has been revealed: a massive bust up between two members of the group.

The Spice Girls cut their world tour short because Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell had a huge falling out.

The girl group - who have cancelled concerts in China, South Africa, Australia and Argentina - reportedly scrapped the dates after single Halliwell accused Beckham of being "insensitive" and boasting about her gorgeous supportive husband David.

The Daily Star quotes an anonymous source as claiming that Beckham’s continual mentioning of her husband, David Beckham, in relation to Halliwell being single led to the band cancelling their tour.

The source is quoted as saying: "The girls turned to their partners during the emotional and exhausting tour but Geri had nobody."

"She felt Victoria was insensitive towards her isolation. She makes sarcastic comments under her breath to wind Geri up, so it looks like Geri is being unreasonable.

"And she’s constantly going on about David and how lucky she is to have such a great partner, unlike Geri."

Whatever, bitch....who cares anyway ?

Wild Party at Bob’s House

One Monday morning the UPS man is driving the neighborhood on his usual route. As he approaches one of the homes he noticed that both cars were still in the driveway His wonder was cut short by Bob, the homeowner, coming out with a load of empty beer and liquor bottles.

”Wow Bob, looks like you guys had one hell of a party last night,” the UPS man comments.

Bob, in obvious pain, replies “Actually we had it Saturday night. This is the first I have felt like moving since 4:00 am Sunday morning. We had about fifteen couples from around the neighborhood over for some weekend fun and it got a bit wild. Hell, we all got so drunk around midnight that we started playing WHO AM I.”

The UPS man thinks a moment and says, “How do you play WHO AM I?”

“Well, all the guys go in the bedroom and we come out one at a time with a sheet covering us, with only our ’privates’ showing through a hole in the sheet. Then the women try to guess who it is.”

The UPS man laughs and says, “Damn, I’m sorry I missed that.”

“Probably a good thing you did,” Bob responded. “Your name came up seven times..

Baby Tossed to Safety Survives, but Nine Die in German Fire

Trapped by smoke, the parents of a 9-month-old baby girl faced an excruciating dilemma: If they threw her out of the window, would she be caught four stories below?

The split-second decision paid off: The baby fell safely into the arms of a police officer below. The parents also survived, although the mother was still in a hospital Tuesday, two days after the blaze that killed nine people, including five children.

The drama at a building in southwestern Germany was captured in a series of photographs of the baby in free fall as a group of anguished adults, thick smoke billowing around them, watched.

The building was home to Turkish immigrants, and Turkey's prime minister expressed concern Tuesday about possible arson. A young girl told Germany's RTL television that she saw a man setting fire to something in the building.

Concerns about TM Demerger

An interesting contrarian article regarding TM Demerger from The Star Malaysia.

*******************************************************************************
CAPITAL TALK

Judging from the performance of Telekom Malaysia’s (TM) share price, the investment community does not seem to be receptive to the proposal to de-merge TM into two companies. In the first of two articles on the demerger, i Capital says the fixed-line business remains attractive.

THE reception by the investment fraternity towards the Telekom Malaysia (TM) demerger seems lukewarm. Various concerns have been raised, including that TM will be uninteresting without the high-flying mobile telecommunications business.

Let us try to put things into perspective. Table 1 shows the condensed financial information for TM as a group and TM at the holding company level, which operates the fixed-line business (excluding Internet & broadband and managed network services).

The performance of the Internet & broadband unit, under wholly owned subsidiary TM Net Sdn Bhd, and the managed network service, under 66.91% subsidiary VADS Bhd, is consolidated at the group level.

As can be seen from Table 2, the core fixed-line business, though facing the challenge of declining revenue, is a business that generates consistent operating cash flow and incurs stable capital expenditure.

Celcom is operating in a market that is close to saturation, and further sustainable growth in revenue can only be achieved by investing in broadband technologies and networks, such as the high-speed downlink packet access technology.

As for the international mobile telecommunications division, it is at the market penetration stage whereby capital expenditure over the next few years would be heavy.

The result is that the TM we have at the moment is a combination of two businesses that are at different growth stages.

Table 3 shows the financial performance ratios for TM as a group, TM’s fixed-line businesses on a standalone basis, and TM’s mobile telecommunications business on a standalone basis based on iCapital’s estimate.

The return on capital employed for the fixed-line division is not far off from the mobile division.

As for the significant difference in return on equity between the fixed-line and mobile division, it is significantly affected by the difference in capital structure of the two divisions.

Thus, on a de-merged basis, both the fixed-line and mobile divisions are still attractive.

One of the concerns that iCapital has about TM is that it had for a while neglected the domestic market and was overly focused on building regional footprints. The domestic business is where the attraction lies.

TM’s dominance in the fixed-line network, with a 95% market share, places TM as a dominant player in the areas of Internet & broadband (via TM Net) and managed network services (via VADS).

The concern over the declining voice revenue can be easily dispersed once one sees the potential that the data businesses provide (see Table 4).

Though some will argue that VADS is now more of a contact centre company, one must understand that contact centre operations rely heavily on managed network services.

The continuous expansion of the Internet and broadband business will provide further uplift to the fixed-line division’s return on capital employed.

The reason is that the business is provided via TM’s existing fixed-line networks, and this allows TM Net to generate a substantial amount of additional revenue with each additional spending on capital expenditure. At present, household broadband penetration is standing at just 12.8%.

The return on equity of the fixed-line division post de-merger will be more attractive than the figures shown in Table 3.

The reason is that the ratios in Table 4 are calculated based on a reconstruction of the group’s income statement and balance sheet, which did not take into consideration the capital management effect if the de-merger was to take place.

One of the obvious merits of demerging both divisions is that the separation of two businesses in different growth stages allows both divisions to have their own capital structures.

As seen in Table 1, the fixed-line division has a stronger financial standing than the mobile telecommunications division. This is further confirmed by the equity multiplier ratios shown in Table 3.

Essentially, the fixed-line division is a cash cow.

One of the barriers that have prevented the cash generated from the fixed-line businesses to flow down to shareholders is the need to re-channel the resources to the fast-growing mobile telecommunications division.

Post-demerger, one can expect the fixed-line division to be a strong dividend paymaster, which will also release the excess cash that has been sitting on the balance sheet.

The excess cash of RM1.1bil proceeds from the sale of Menara TM, Menara Celcom, Cyberjaya Complex, and Wisma TM Taman Desa to a special-purpose vehicle has been paid as a special 65 sen dividend, and the RM730mil proceeds from Celcom’s capital repayment exercise could also flow to the shareholders.

How does one value the two companies post-demerger?

For the fixed-line division, our view is that it will be a cash cow that also carries growth opportunities.

The growth will be coming from the Internet and broadband, managed network services, and the development of the proposed RM15.2bil high-speed broadband infrastructure with the Government over the next 10 years.

Based on the division’s financial strength, we expect the division to pay out an average of RM400mil to RM500mil worth of dividends per annum. Factoring in the growth factor, the value of the fixed-line division is worth RM4.50 to RM5.00 per share.

Introducing Mrs. Borat

The new Mrs. Borat is Isla Fisher. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, she was one of the Cleary sisters in the movie Wedding Crasher - the younger sister who marries Vince Vaughn. For those who do not know who Borat is, here is a picture to remind you who he is :-

Borat's actor Sacha Baron Cohen is an English comedian, writer and an Golden Globe-winning actor also noted for his comic characters Ali G (a junglist-hip hop gangsta wannabe from suburban Staines) and Bruno (a flamboyantly gay Austrian fashion reporter).

In his routine, Baron Cohen typically conducts interviews with respected figures while posing as one of his characters for comic effect. His interviewees believe that the ostensible interviews are sincere and legitimate. His work has been recognized with several Emmy nominations, an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, a BAFTA award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his work in the feature film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

As for Miss Fisher, with a burgeoning career, an engagement to one of Britain's most successful comedic exports, and a four-month-old daughter in the shape of little Olive - it is no wonder that Fisher declares herself to be "the happiest I've ever been in my life".

Republican Romney Drops Out, Effectively Giving McCain the Nomination

WASHINGTON: Republican Mitt Romney has ended his faltering presidential bid, effectively handing his party's nomination to John McCain, who tried to mend his tattered relationship with conservatives and unify a splintered Republican Party.

Romney's decision, announced Thursday, marked a remarkable turnaround for McCain, a former Vietnam prisoner-of-war whose campaign some seven months ago was barely viable, out of cash and losing staff. The four-term Arizona senator, denied his party's nomination in 2000, was poised to succeed George W. Bush as the Republican standard-bearer.

He still has to win over some right-wing members of his party upset by his prior support of a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and stances on global warming and campaign finance reform that break with the conservative party line.

As part of that effort, McCain told conservatives in a speech Thursday that he cannot succeed without their support, and any differences within the party are eclipsed by his differences with chief Democratic rivals Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

The Big Deal: Shaq to Phoenix

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns acquired Shaquille O'Neal in a stunning, blockbuster deal that sent four-time All-Star Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat.

The improbable pairing of the speedy Suns and the slow but once-mighty O'Neal became official when he cleared a physical exam Wednesday.

*******************************************************************************

As a Suns fan, I am speechless in regards to this deal. On on hand, we have one of the premier, albeit past-its-prime, dominant center (one which Suns never had). On the other hand, Suns lost reliable and always-to-the-rescue wing man in Shawn Marion. In addition, I am still not sure how Shaq will fit into the small ball Suns.

But then again, after few years of putting up a consistently up-tempo always-on-the-run game, Suns still fail to get its first championship. With Spurs always the stumbling block for the Suns come playoffs, perhaps having Shaq in the line-up will be a good gamble, albeit a risky (with the history of his recent injury and with Shaq being almost 36 years old) and pricy (Suns were taking on a contract that pays O'Neal $20 million each of the next two seasons) one.

Afterall, with always persistent rumor of Marion wanting out of Phoenix, if not being emhasized the main main in Phoenix behind Nash and as Nash himself is getting older each year, perhaps any effort in getting the championship ring to a consistently great team in Suns, no matter how risky it is, should be commendable.

“When I am this party’s nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I supported Bush-Cheney policies of not talking to leaders that we don’t like. And he will not be able to say that I wavered on something as fundamental as whether or not it is ok for America to torture — because it is never ok… I will end the war in Iraq… I will close Guantanamo. I will restore habeas corpus. I will finish the fight against Al Qaeda. And I will lead the world to combat the common threats of the 21st century: nuclear weapons and terrorism; climate change and poverty; genocide and disease. The Smartest Man In the World

A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble.

In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the passengers that they had better jump, and bailed out.

Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes remaining.

The doctor grabbed one and said “I’m a doctor, I save lives, so I must live,” and jumped out.

The lawyer then said, “I’m a lawyer and lawyers are the smartest people in the world. I deserve to live.” He also grabbed a parachute and jumped.

The priest looked at the little boy and said, “My son, I’ve lived a long and full life. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace.”

The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest and said, “Not to worry, Father. The ’smartest man in the world’ just took off with my back pack.”

"Daddy Went Away", Michelle Williams Tells Matilda

According to US Magazine.com, reliable sources say it is Michelle’s love for their 2-year-old daughter that is providing the strength as she mourns Heath’s untimely death.

Holding daughter Matilda, Michelle Williams arrived in Perth, Australia, Wednesday for Heath Ledger’s funeral.

“Michelle was always really vulnerable, so this has shaken her quite a bit,” a friend of Michelle’s told Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now. “She’s mourning and trying to figure out what to do next.”

Matilda, though, “is too young” to know the heartbreaking reason why her father isn’t around anymore.

“Michelle and the family are showering Matilda with love right now to cushion it so she isn’t really aware,” a source close the family told Us Weekly.

The source adds: “Michelle basically told Matilda, ‘Daddy went away.’ Matilda still doesn’t grasp it.”

Heath Ledger's Death Ruled Accidental Overdose

According to Associated Press, actor Heath Ledger died from an accidental overdose of six different drugs — painkillers and sedatives.

In a statement issued Wednesday by NY City coroner, the city's medical examiner said: "Mr Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine."

The medical examiner ruled out suicide.

"We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications."

Ledger's US-based publicist, Mara Buxbaum, immediately released a statement from Ledger's father, Kim, requesting the media to stop speculating about what killed his son.

"Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts," Mr Ledger wrote.

"While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy.

"Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."

The Drug Enforcement Administration is investigating how Ledger got the medications. It's common for investigators to review prescriptions when so many drugs are involved in an overdose death, said spokesman Rusty Payne.

Doctors not connected with the case said it would be unlikely for one doctor to order all the drugs. However, they said it's not unusual for people to be prescribed both painkillers and sedatives, and overdoses are not uncommon.

"This is not rock star wretched excess," said Cindy Kuhn, a pharmacology professor at Duke University. "This is a situation that could happen to plenty of people with prescriptions for these kind of drugs."

Is This True...There Are Only 155,583,825 Web Sites In The Entire World?

According to a Netcraft survey , there are an estimated 155,583,825 websites at the end of January 2008. The survey showed that growth had slowed from 5.4 million new sites in December 2007 to just 354,000 new sites in January 2008. It is also noticeable that Apache serves, which have been in the lead but suffering a long decline has been surging lately, and at the expense of Microsoft.

I'm not so sure whether the numbers are correct, but I just can imagine, that the numbers of websites in the entire world is that small. Granted, that websites in their definition meaning top-level domains, I think, meaning all the blogspots sites are lump into one blogspot.com, I still believe there are more websites than reported by this survey. But then again, who am I to know. I'm not even an IT literate kind of guy.

Hot FM Dah 2 Tahun Ke Udara....Radio ERA Hilang Haluan

Zeta-Jones Voted "World's Most Beautiful"

Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has topped a list of the most beautiful women in the world.

The Traffic star, 38, was the number one choice in a new poll voted for by 8,000 women worldwide, stealing the crown from a host of much younger beauties because of her "style and grace."

The survey allowed women to vote for their all-time favorite beauty icons, with 1960s actress Brigitte Bardot claiming second place, followed by Breakfast At Tiffany's star Audrey Hepburn at number three.

Today's hottest celebrities found it hard to compete with the classical beauties of past Hollywood eras, with the late Marilyn Monroe and Dame Elizabeth Taylor, 75, beating Jessica Biel, 25, and 26-year-old Sienna Miller.

Bizarrely, Angelina Jolie, who often claims the top spot in beauty polls, failed to make the top 50, with Brad Pitt's famous former lovers Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow also missing out on a place.

Charlotte Newbert, of poll organizers Nephria Cosmetics, says, "Catherine Zeta-Jones is an ideal winner. She oozes style and grace and her natural beauty just shines through."

Latest Syracuse Election Numbers: Clinton & Obama Tied

Talk about close. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama each got 6,001 votes in Syracuse in the state primary, according to preliminary Board of Elections results.

The odds of that happening are less than one in a million, said Syracuse University mathematics professor Hyune-Ju Kim, who analyzed the state- and city-wide votes.

Indeed, the tie no doubt will be broken when election officials add in absentee votes and affidavit ballots, which are similar to provisional ballots used in other states when a voter’s eligibility cannot be determined.

A total of 12,346 votes were cast for Democrats in the city in Tuesday’s primary. Four other Democrats also received votes: John Edwards, 114; Dennis Kucinich, 113; Bill Richardson, 90; and Joe Biden, 27.

Clinton won the state with 57 percent of the vote to 40 percent for Obama.

Managing Mindset - Tearing Down The Walls

As usual, I present you my weekly favorite article from Digi's CEO, Morten Lundal, written for The Star, 4th february 2008.

DiGi.Com Bhd CEO looks at communication barriers within the company

I REMEMBER looking over to his office door with some awe. He was the chief financial officer of the entire group. Big guy. He was in there somewhere behind the assistant. Smoking. That’s why the door was closed, I guess.

In Norway in the 1990s you could smoke in your own office if you had the door shut. He smoked a lot so the door was closed a lot.

He came out from his corner office to join formal meetings, but I don’t think he ever really understood what was happening in the company, beyond the prepared briefs he received.

I never went by his assistant or opened his door. I don’t think anyone did. I never told him or asked him for anything.

Formal meetings with a closed group of people became the only way for him to connect. He was living in a bubble, isolated from the organisation he was leading.

I also had an office at that time, half circular with nice view, but I did not smoke and my door was open. At that time, I thought I was fairly accessible to everyone.

Later on the whole (Telenor, DiGi’s largest shareholder) group changed to a no-office principle. We ended up next to each other, the CFO and I, with our simple desks, PCs and reasonable efforts to work paperless.

None of us was the chatty type, but the two of us and our little landscape of senior managers developed our own micro culture over time.

More trust, more knowledge, more humour, lowered shoulders, more team.

I could turn over to him (or the HR boss on my left) and ask a quick question and get a quick answer. Or I could give him a concern or a criticism in a non-threatening way. And I realised that I had also been in a micro bubble in my previous office.

And I started to think about all the other barriers we set up in our traditional organisational setups.

The logic is simple. As companies grow (either in size or in geography), dysfunctionality creeps in the form of bureaucracy, elaborate processes, misunderstandings, risk aversion and various barriers to personal and honest communication.

A core belief I have is that very few of us are supermen or wonder-women. If that is true, then we need many views on a topic, we need to try a variety of approaches, we need to have numerous people’s energy to scrutinise an upcoming decision. Instead of working towards such an open performance culture, most companies have a formal organisational framework, where you find very clear walls between senior and junior management, clear separation among senior people, and high walls between the company and its customers and stakeholders.

Think about it. A typical top management is isolated in a very limited bubble of likeminded executives who are craving for positive recognition from their master. Don’t you think this disconnect will over time result in poor decision-making?

We need to break down those walls. This is true for businesses in general, but I wonder if Malaysian businesses don’t have a particular imminent opportunity here.

I warned you in my first column that I might use DiGi now and then as an example to illustrate a point. In DiGi we formulated the vision that “we wanted to create the company we’ve always wanted to work for.”

And one of the key things “we’ve always wanted to work for” was a company with minimal internal barriers to good ideas, constructive criticism and efficient processes. So we mixed some substantial changes with some symbolic initiatives, all in the name of trying to break down these psychological walls that foster isolation, dysfunctionality and disconnect.

We took away all the physical walls between the desks, including the dreadful concept of “the divider”, the cubicle. Not one office left.

We took away all the personalisation of the office space and gave most staff notebook computers and an encouragement to swap desks ever so often.

We took away all the hierarchy titles (“assistant general manager”, you probably have them in your company) and most personal assistants. To de-emphasise hierarchy further we even made one benefit structure for absolutely every employee and removed salary bands. We created an office with lots of light and window, encouraging Digizens to meet in various informal meeting places instead of formal meeting rooms.

We used various formats to create arenas where top management met people from all corners of the company. And we replaced dark suits with jeans, again to symbolise accessibility.
Has DiGi succeeded? Yes and no. I do think we have made dramatic progress in creating a management structure that is much more connected with “what’s actually going on.”

But at the same time we also have substantial ways to go. There are still many good ideas and constructive criticism unheard/untold somewhere in the system that would benefit from being brought forward. So we will continue to break down walls.

When are you starting to break down the ones around you?

Great Year Ahead for Mobile Users in Malaysia

I read an article of the same title in The Star, 4th February 2008. It seems that competition in mobile world in Malaysia become stronger...and as a result, we the consumers will benefit from it, hopefully.

So, what's in store in 2008 ? First, we have mobile number portability (meaning that if we like our phone number, but dislike our services or prefer to use other mobile company services, we could opt to the other company but still maintain our number...cool isn't it?), WiMax services, mobile broadband offerings and new operators (known as MVNOs or Mobile Virtual Network Operators)
The well-known demerger of TM into two separate companies, FixedCo & RegionCo (or TM International Bhd - TMI - a regional telecommunication player) will also occur mid this year.

U Mobile Sdn. Bhd. operations will also go on full force this year. The strength of this non-MVNO company lies on its 3G license, its agreement with Celcom that gives it immediate nationwide coverage, as well as its cash - a full US$200 million injection from the deep pockets of Japan's NTT DoCoMo Inc and South Korea's KT Freetel Co, on top of the US$80 million cash commitment from its 67% parent, Berjaya Corp.

It is interesting to note that U Mobile's foreign partners are renowned for their successes in rolling out 3G services in their home countries. However, no news yet on when U Mobile's '018' service will be launched to the public.

No matter what, 2008 will be a promising year for mobile consumers. With this exuberance and promising future in minds, it's no wonder the target share price for Digi, one of the three mega mobile players, is RM 27.00.

Shaq 14 Consecutive All-Star Selections Ends

Shaquille O'Neal record-tying streak of 14 straight All-Star selections ends as the Miami Heat center was not on the list of Eastern Conference reserves released Thursday for the Feb. 17 game in New Orleans. O'Neal will still be going to the All-Star festivities, but only to host a couple of parties and appear at other events that weekend.

The coaches who select the reserves didn't agree, nor did the fans who voted Orlando's Dwight Howard in as the East's starting center. However, if a spot opens because of injury, it's still possible that NBA commissioner David Stern could add O'Neal to the roster - which would extend the streak after all.

For his part, O'Neal said he thought Howard's starting nod was well-deserved and that he wouldn't lobby the coaches for support on their ballots. And even if he was voted onto the team, O'Neal - who's averaging a career-low 14.2 points, still the second-best in the East among true centers behind Howard - may not have been able to play anyway because of a hip injury that currently has him out of the Heat lineup.

Toronto's Chris Bosh, Washington's Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison, Boston's Paul Pierce, Detroit's Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton, and Atlanta's Joe Johnson were the East reserve selections.

They'll join Wade, Howard, New Jersey's Jason Kidd, Cleveland's LeBron James and Boston's Kevin Garnett, the East starters.

O'Neal, Jerry West and Karl Malone are the only players selected to 14 straight All-Star games.

10 Most Deadly Events in Human History

A list of events in history which had the highest death toll ever recorded.

1. World War 2
During World War II, there were a combined 60 million casualties world wide. Russia alone suffered over 20 million. Others include; U.S.A., Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Poland, England, Yugoslavia, China, and Canada.

2. Under Mao Zedong in China
The Red Guards, under the control of Mao Zedong, caused upwards of 50 million casualties in the 1950's and 60's through political repression and The Great Leap Forward, an ambitious plan to turn China's mainland into a communist country.

3. Mongol Conquests
The Mongolian conquests under Genghis Khan in the 1500's paved a path of destruction throughout Asia and Eastern Europe. Its Estimated that by the end of his reign, Over 60 million people worldwide had been affected. (This includes deaths by disease and famine) The percentage of worldwide population to casualties makes this event the highest casualty rate of all time.

4. World War I (Without Spanish Flu deaths)
During World War I, its estimated 40-50 million people lost their lives through war. If you include the deaths caused by diseases that spread in close living conditions, the total number of deaths would rise to 100 million +. If you include this, it is the single greatest loss of life in human history.

5. An Shi Rebellion
The An Shu Rebellion took place around 750 A.D., during the Tang Dynasty of China. A commander, An Lushan, was given control of several hundred thousand garrisoned troops in the northern provinces of China. Through revolt, famine, and disease, its estimated that over 35 million people were lost to the rebellion.

6. Nazi Germany/Holocaust
During the Nazi Germany era, and the reign of Hitler, millions of people lost their lives. Specifically, during the holocaust of the Jewish people in Europe (Though other groups were prosecuted as well) over 21 million people were killed in concentration camps. This figure does not include the casualties lost through war (See World War II).

7. Atlantic Slave Trade
Over the course of three and a half centuries, millions of African people were taken from their homes and shipped off to the New World. Though common belief states the Europeans captured these people, most commonly rivaling African tribes would attempt to sell each other off to the slave merchants. Including African casualties in Africa, en route to the Americas, and through slave labor, estimations of the death toll range from 5 million to upwards of 60 million. (Figure does not include Native American death toll, See Conquest of the Native Americans)

8. Russia under Stalin Joseph
Stalin was the communist party leader and dictator of Russia from 1922-1953 at his death. By sacrificing millions of Russian lives, he helped create one of two major superpowers after the Second World War; status which lasted for well over 40 years. Through his “programs”, mainly industrialization and collectivization, as well as harsh political repression, estimates of the death toll have reached 50 million people.

9. Conquest of the Ming Dynasty
At the turn of the 18th century, the Manchu people, originating from Manchuria (North Eastern China), came down from the North and conquered the Ming Dynasty. For over 2 centuries, they ruled over China, creating what is known as the Qing Dynasty. The estimates for the death toll average to around 25 million people.

10. Conquest of the Native Americans
The indigenous peoples of the Americas, also known as Native Americans, lived isolated from the rest of the world for millennia. It is believed they traveled over a land bridge near the Bering Strait, although the theory is still contested. During the “conquests” of the New World, when the European nations colonized North and South America, over 90% of the Native American populations were destroyed by small pox and other diseases alone. Over 20 million people were killed by the end of the colonization period.

Fakta Menarik Tentang Tol

Jangan setiap 3 tahun mesti naik.

New York Giants 17, New England Patriots 14

NYG (4-0) 3 0 0 14 17
NWE (2-1) 0 7 0 7 14

In one of football's biggest shockers, New York shattered New England's unbeaten season as Manning hit Plaxico Burress on a 13-yard fade with 35 seconds left in the Super Bowl. Sunday's 17-14 win was the Giants' 11th straight on the road, and the first time the Patriots tasted defeat in more than a year.

It was the most bitter of losses, too, because New England (18-1) was one play from winning, but its defense couldn't stop a 12-play, 83-yard drive that featured a spectacular leaping catch by David Tyree, who scored New York's first touchdown.

Tom Brady, the league's Most Valuable Player and winner of his first three Super Bowls, was battered all game. He was sacked five times, hurried a dozen more, and at one point wound up on his knees, his hands on his hips following one of many poor throws.

Hardly a familiar position for the record-setting quarterback. And a totally strange outcome for a team that seemed destined for historic glory.

It's Official: New England Patriots Is Not The Best Team Ever

They are not even the best team in 2007. Yes, they won 18 games en route to Superbowl. But they lost that one game - the game. The one that truly matters. The one that counts, and yes they blew it....big time.

Dejected Tom Brady

On the other hand, New York Giants, 14-6, including 4 wins in post-season wins it all. They are the best team this season, no matter how great Patriots was before this game.

Life isn't fair, eh? Ask Tom Brady this question, and I guess his expression will tell it all, no matter what words come out from his mouth.

The truth is, Patriots looked vulnerable the last few games of the season, unlike its dominance earlier in 2007. But, statistics won't lie, and the only stats matters for them is the winning numbers. And they keep doing that, day in day out until today.
Lo and behold, the statistics won't lie again. New York Giants is the XLII Superbowl Champion. The same New York Giants who went here on a wildcard ticket, losing 6 games in a "not so great" regular season. But that was before. Today, they are the American's best NFL team of the season, because they win this game. And due to that, they win it all.... and I repeat New York Giants is the Best Team of 2007. Patriots is not. Period.

No Shaving While Driving in Mexico

MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - Motorists in northern Mexico who are caught dabbing on lipstick, shaving or carrying a pet at the wheel will now face hefty fines as authorities try to cut down on traffic accidents.

Putting on make-up or shaving with an electric razor will land drivers fines of up to 346 pesos (16 pounds) in the northern Mexican city of Torreon from this month, Mexican media reported on Saturday.

Along with a slew of higher fines for common traffic offences such as driving while intoxicated, speeding, and talking on a telephone without a headset, Torreon city hall said new misdemeanours included throwing trash out of a car window, and driving with another person or an animal on a motorist's lap.

City halls across Mexico are stiffening traffic laws as motorists in Mexico regularly ignore stop lights, drive drunk or with children in the front seat, and carry passengers in the back of pick-up trucks. Fatal accidents are common.

Frozen Sea

Somewhere in Russia where it is so cold that some parts of the sea is frozen. The waves aren’t entirely frozen since it would literally take a huge drop in temperature while the waves are forming to create something like that.

Anyway check out the other pics of the frozen sea here.

7 Ways To Boost Your Mood

There are times when no matter how hard we try to avoid it, we sink into a funk or a less than productive mood. We drag our feet, feel unmotivated and lose perspective. When that happens we can either roll with it hoping it will wear off, or we can apply strategies to counteract it.

To help you get moving and back on track again, here are some helpful suggestions to boost your mood.

1. Get some exercise. Exercise is one of the quickest ways to pick yourself up because it stimulates circulation and releases the happy hormones, otherwise known as endorphins. Before you know it you will be ready to take on the world, or at least you’ll feel that way!

2. Have a catnap. If you’re worn out and too tired to exercise, perhaps a nap is in order. It’s surprising how a little fifteen or twenty-minute rest can be refreshing. Not only that, when we nap new ideas, insights and solutions come to the surface from our sub-conscious. Thomas Edison, Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy were all known to take catnaps to rejuvenate themselves.

3. Listen to uplifting music. Music is the ultimate mood changer! It can take you from the depths of listlessness to the heights of exhilaration. As Plato observed “Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul”.

4. Take a break and have a cup of tea or coffee. There is a reason coffee breaks are mandatory at most work places. Of course you need not drink tea or coffee but stepping away from what you were doing gives you a fresh new outlook and when you get back to it, you’re ready to roll.

5. Focus on the positive. At times when we get involved in a project and things aren’t going well or when we’re having a bad day, we have a tendency to become negative and distort the situation. We forget what has gone well and what is working. When that happens, it’s a good idea to re-focus, look at what is going right, what you have accomplished and how far you’ve come. It will give you the boost you need to keep going.

6.Talk to someone. Expressing your feelings to a friend or colleague can be both therapeutic and a way to get you out of your mood. When someone empathizes or commiserates with us, we feel that the burden is not all ours to bear and that someone understands what we’re going through. Knowing that others care or have had similar feelings gives us a pickup and helps motivate us to move on.

7. Switch direction completely. Sometimes getting in a rut or down mood can be the result of spending too much time on one particular task. In those cases you need a different type of break. The best thing to do is walk away from what you’re doing and engage in something completely different. If you’ve been working at a computer all day, take a break and go shopping, visit a friend or clean out your closet (a popular choice I’m sure). When you get back to the task at hand, you will have a new, fresh mindset.

As you can see, we are not at the mercy of our moods. When we get stuck (and we all do at times), we have the ability to lift ourselves up, rise above what’s momentarily dragging us down and forge ahead.

5 Ways Supermarkets Trick You Into Shopping Their Way

Supermarkets have quite a few tricks they use to get you to buy what they want to sell, to keep you in the store as long as possible, and to encourage impulse purchases. Here are just a few of the methods they use :-

1. Eye candy
Tempting impulse items aren't just located by the cash register. Many stores put the candy/sweets aisle directly opposite the cereal aisle so a must-have (cereal) easily leads to a must-avoid (candy), especially if your kids are along.

2. End-caps
People often assume (I'm guilty of this one) that because something is featured and stacked up at the end of the aisle that it must be on sale or new or on some other kind of special. Rarely the case, but then you've already got it in your head that you want one.

3. Shelf shuffles
Supermarkets often rearrange the order and location of basic items in a blatant effort to keep customers looking longer and spending more time in the store shopping.

4. Cozy spots to relax
By incorporating comfortable places to relax like cafes and coffee shops grocery stores make it easy for you to make shopping almost an all-morning or all-afternoon event. The more time you spend the more you're going to buy.

5. Tantalizing smells
Stores often position the bakery or deli near the entrance so the first thing you smell and think of when you walk in is freshly baked sweets and rotisserie chicken.

First-Born Kids, CEO Material?

Scientists have found that first-born children are smarter than their brothers and sisters. It appears they are more likely to succeed in business, too.

Be it drive or aptitude or a slightly higher IQ, the advantage crosses gender and international lines. Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer is an eldest child, as is Avon's Andrea Jung. Charles Schwab, the oldest of two, overcame dyslexia to become one of the world's richest. Joe Moglia, CEO of TD Ameritrade, was first-born of five and says he received regular corporal punishment as a child.

21 Facts About The Internet

1. Who coined the phrase 'World Wide Web'?

Tim Berners-Lee in 1990. He's also considered by most
people as the person who started the whole thing rolling.

2. How did the Internet Start and Why?

It all started with the time-sharing of IBM computers in the
early 1960s at universities such as Dartmouth and Berkeley in
the States. People would share the same computer for their
computing tasks. The Internet also received help from Sputnik!
After this Russian Satellite was launched in 1957, President
Eisenhower formed ARPA to advance computer networking and
communication.

Plus, we won't even mention that whole industry where
people show their naughty bits.

3. Who was J.C.R. Licklider?

Licklider is often referred to as the father of the Internet because
his ideas of interactive computing and a "Galactic Network" were
the seeds for the Internet. His ideas would be developed thru
DARPA,(Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in 1962.
Later he would help form ARPANET and the Internet was on it's way.

Vinton Gray Cerf was another founding father of the Internet. He
played a key role in the creation of the Net by developing
the TCP/IP protocols we use for the Internet.

4. What was ARPANET?

ARPANET stands for 'Advanced Research Projects Agency Network'
Came about in the arena of Sputnik and the cold war. The military
needed a method of communicating and sharing all the information on
computers for research and development. It would also be a handy
communication system if all traditional ways were wiped out in
a nuclear attack!

5. What was the First long distance Connection?

In 1965 using a low speed dial-up telephone line, MIT
researcher Lawrence G. Roberts working with Thomas Merrill,
connected the TX-2 computer in Massachusetts to the Q-32
in California. The phone lines weren't quite up to the task!

6. Who was Leonard Kleinrock?

Kleinrock came up with the theory of packet switching,
the basic form of Internet connections. With a group
of UCLA graduate students on Oct. 29, 1969, Kleinrock
connected with the Stanford Research Institute but as
they typed in the G in LOGIN -- the system crashed!

7.What is an Ethernet?

It's a protocol or system for a set of computer networking
technologies for local area networks (LANs), the origins of
which came from Bob Metcalfe's Harvard's dissertation on
"Packet Networks."

8. When was the first mouse introduced?

The first computer mouse was introduced in 1968 by
Douglas Engelbart at the Fall Joint Computer Expo
in San Francisco.

9. Did Al Gore really invent the Internet?

No, but give credit where credit is due. He did the most of
any elected official to actively promote the Internet. However,
he wasn't even in Congress when ARPANET was formed in 1969
or even when the term 'Internet' came into use in 1974. Gore was
first elected in 1976.

Gore himself may be the cause of this Urban Legend or
Internet myth - during a Wolf Blitzer CNN interview on
March 9, 1999 - Al Gore did say: "During my service in the
United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating
the Internet."

Causing himself some ridicule but also paving the way for
such future one-liners as: "I invented the environment!"

10. Who coined the phrase 'information superhighway'?

Wikipedia says Nam June Paik coined the phrase "information
superhighway" in 1974.

Al Gore popularized the phrase in the early 1990's.

11. Which decade really saw the explosion of the net?

The 1990s. The Internet exploded into the mainstream with
the release of the first popular web browser Mosaic in 1993.

12. How fast is the Internet growing?

Very fast! It took 38 years for radio to reach 50 million users,
13 years for TV, and only 5 years for the Internet. Source:
CyberAtlas.com

13. Number of Internet Users and Breakdown.

The Internet is roughly 35% English, 65% Non-English with
the Chinese at 14%. Yet only 13% of world's population,
812 million are Internet users as of Dec. '04. North America
has the highest continental concentration with 70% of the
people using the Internet.

14. Country with the highest percentage of net users?

Sweden at 75%.

15. How big is the Internet's surfing world?

Google's index now stands at over 8 billion pages. There are
now over a Billion Internet Users and that number is growing
rapidily.

16. What was the Net's first index called?

Archie, other than library catalogs, this was the first
index created in 1989 by Peter Deutsch at McGill in Montreal.
Although it spouted such others as Veronica and Jughead, Archie
was short for Archiver and had nothing to do with the
comic strip.

Backrub was the original name for Google! Larry Page and Sergey
Brin used this term for their search engine in 1996, Google as we
know it debuted in 1998. The name Google is a twist on the word
Googol, a number represented as 1 followed by 100 zeros.

17. Who coined the phrase 'The Web might be better than sex'?

Bob Metcalfe in 1995.

18. What does HTTP stand for?

HyperText Transfer Protocol - it's the protocol for moving files
across the net; it requires two client programs. The HTTP client
and the server.

19. What is an ISP?

Internet Service Provider - This is the service or company you use to
access the Internet.

20. What is HTML?

Hypertext Markup Language - it's the coded format language for
transmitting and creating hypertext web pages.

21. What are your average surfing habits according to Nielsen
NetRatings?

Each month you usually visit 59 domains, view 1,050 pages allocating 45
seconds for each page and spend about 25 hours doing all this net activity!
Each surfing session lasts 51 minutes.

One last thought - Henry Edward Hardy in his Master's Thesis (1993) on
The History of the Net stated "The Net is Immortal". Ever wonder what
this baby will be like in a 100 years? a 1000 years? Just something
to think about as you keep your eye on that cursor.

What Does the Color of Your Car Say About You?

1. Red

A red car indicates that you are a passionate person. You are a "take charge" kind of individual and you are at least a little wild. If you are thinking of buying a red car keep in mind that red cars still have the highest rate of theft and the highest insurance rates than any other color vehicle. Bright red paint also subconsciously sends the message that the owner is in a higher income bracket.

2. Orange

An orange vehicle is exceedingly hard to find. If you have an orange car you most likely crave attention. You are also generally a happy and upbeat person who enjoys being unique.

3. Yellow

There aren't too many yellow cars on the road either, but a few companies do put them out; think the Ford Focus and VW Bug for instance. If you drive a yellow car you are confident. You like to have fun and you embrace the child within.

4. Green
Green is the color of nature. The person who chooses a green car is conscientious. They tend to be the go-to person in tense situations because they know how to keep their emotions in balance.

5. Blue

If your car is dark blue you are likely a very loyal person. You value relationships over wealth and you are calm. Rather than stand out, you like to blend in. If your car is light blue you are serene and peaceful. You also have a strong maternal instinct.

6. Purple

This is the color of royalty. If you have found a purple car you are a cherished individual who loves beauty, but walks with strength and purpose.

7. Pink

There are few pink cars out there, but they can be found. If you have a pink car, you like to be treated with a soft touch. You like to smile and you think good health is important.

8. Brown

If you have a brown car t
